Day 4
Excerpts taken from the personal journal of Peter Lalonde Friday May 5, 2000 Toronto, Canada I have just finished watching the dailies (daily prints of the unedited film shot the day before) for days 3 and 4 and they look terrific. The editor is coming by today to show us the rough-cut of one of the first completed scenes. That should be cool! I was on set this morning seeing the clapboard marked "Left Behind " smacking together as Vic (the director) called for action. I was reminded how long some of you have waited and prayed for this day to come. The excitement and energy here on the set is something to see. Everyone here feels that they are part of something special. For the last two days, the street we are shooting on has been completely shut down with police blocking access. I would have to say that the rush hour drivers are probably the least enthused about the production. As we speak today Kirk and Chlesea are flying back to LA for a family wedding and then returning immediately. On Thursday night we were shooting a very large street scene with a lot of lights which always attracts curious onlookers. I noticed a young man and a girl sitting by a tree watching and then I also noticed that Kirk was over visiting with them. We were on a break and so they talked for a long time. Then Kirk got called back to work and some time later I saw Chelsea talking to the same couple. She was there for over an hour. When Chelsea and I visited a bit later I asked her about it. The young man and girl were drug addicts in the first few days of treatment at a nearby facility. They were both on shaky ground. But it was nice warm night out and they asked someone what the movie was about. The person they asked was Kirk who made himself very accessible during the filming. He told them why he was doing the movie and how he believed every word of it. Between he and Chelsea they shared their faith with those two young people for over two hours between all their hard work on the set. I knew right away that what I was seeing the real Trib Force Club spirit coming through. I'm so glad they are here. God's people in God's time. No better place to be. |
